this week in english class we are talking about the human condition.
what do you think the "human condition" is?
are we innately good? innately bad? or innately in-between?
what do you consider to be the "meaning of life"?
what kind of role does religion and faith play in your life? and how do you think that it has affected human beings in general?

in psychology we've been studying that the way you are is a combination of genes, experience, and human affect. so generally, we're innately neither good nor bad, and it all depends on the person<3 it's all pretty complicated when you get into it.

sgdreams: I think we are born somewhere in between.
No one is "born to be bad" so to speak.
But in a way, some of us are. Like people will bad brain chemestry, causing them to have a mental illness that maybe that can't control, like serial killers. But generally, something HAPPENED to them over the course of their life to make them that way.
Also, I think religion plays a part in it with some people, and with others it doesn't. I think some religions are a corrupt business altogether. Some are just there for control. Sometimes though, it can make people aspire to be good, which isn't a bad thing generally.
Religion plays no real part in my life, but spirituality does. At times, I'm a very spiritual person, and would like to be moreso eventually.
Mostly religion just makes me angry though, because people in our country use it for their own agendas and not really for the actual sake of the religion at all. THEY USE IT AS AN EXCUSE TO HATE AND HARM. i DON'T TAKE THAT TOO LIGHTLY.

i think humans are born innately in between good and bad. i think that when we're born, we have that balance, and the second we enter this world, then we are exposed to goodness/badness. it's the people around us and how we grow and our experiences and our thoughts and decisions that make us good or bad.
meaning of life... hmm... well, there has to be a reason why we were born as humans, why we were born on this earth, and why we are alive at this time, and not in the past or future or in a random galaxy far far away as some other creature. and there has to be a reason why we know nothing about what happens to our soul after we die. so i think the whole reason we are here is to live. just to live it up, learn what we can while we can, and just take advantage of the time that we're here.
i don't have a religion, but i do believe there is a god. but i do not believe that he is flawless. i have faith in a lot of things, some foolish, but i believe in them nonetheless. i think that humans need religion to have something to believe in, to have their questions answered. to figure out what their meaning of life is.

I think it's more of a nurture factor...and the nurture most are receiving in this world makes people evil.
